Consistent with our Quaker school philosophy, the college counseling office seeks to nurture students’ Inner Light through the college process. Whether our students choose to enroll in one of the nation’s leading liberal 艺术 colleges, public flagship universities, 专门的机构, or premier research universities, they are well-prepared to let their lives speak as they lead in the 21st century. The college options for Moses Brown graduates are as broad and diverse as their talents and interests.

With three counselors and an office coordinator, college counseling is highly personalized at Moses Brown. Counselors host college representatives, and make campus visits themselves, to gain up-to-date knowledge and to build relationships. Each member of the college counseling team has previously worked in college admissions, and uses their experience to guide each student with an individualized application plan.

Support for students in different grade levels

9年级

9th:

By embracing the challenge of upper school academics, 艺术, 体育运动, 还有社会机会, ninth graders or students in the ninth begin to develop into accomplished, 平衡个人. Taking appropriately challenging courses and exploring activities they genuinely find interesting will support their college ambitions. 从九年级开始, the college counseling office hosts programs to help students and families understand what to expect in the coming years.

10年级

10th:

By continuing to engage in coursework and activities beyond the classroom, tenth graders build an authentic portfolio that supports their college ambitions. Sophomores tackle standardized testing practice with the PSAT, and the college counseling team meets with the sophomore class and their parents during programs throughout the year to help them prepare for the steps ahead.

11年级

11th:

Counselors work with students one-on-one to learn about their interests and goals, and to suggest colleges to investigate. 学生 learn to reflect on what they’re looking for and why they like (or don’t like) certain colleges, and counselors help families prepare to navigate campus visits. Several events take place throughout the year, including “Junior Class College Day,” a program for families led by college admission officers.

12年级

12th:

Twelfth graders work one-on-one with counselors to apply to a thoughtful list of colleges, to connect with college admission representatives, and to let their Inner Light shine as they craft their college applications. 学生 develop close relationships with their counselor as they make informed decisions about which great institution they will ultimately attend.

If using GPS, use the address 294 Lloyd Avenue. Enter through the lower gate on Lloyd Avenue. You will pass the Moran Softball field on your right as you drive up a hill onto campus. As you near the top of the hill, you will see a small parking lot on your right with spots labeled for visitor parking. There should be a parking attendant on duty if you need assistance.

The college counseling office is located in Friends Hall, the building closest to the visitor lot. Follow the sidewalk along the road up the hill, and take a right into the quad area. Then head up the steps onto the deck, and enter the right-hand set of double doors. 进去后向右转. Our office will be on your left.
